About Course
The Advanced Film Theory module offers an in-depth exploration of contemporary and emerging perspectives in film analysis. Covering a wide range of theories—including postmodern, cognitive, ecocritical, transnational, affect, feminist, and Marxist theories—students will examine the evolution of film theory from classical roots to modern applications. Through film analysis, research projects, and theory-based assignments, this course emphasizes critical thinking and diverse interpretations of film. By the end, students will develop a comprehensive understanding of film’s role in cultural, political, and social contexts, culminating in a final project that applies multiple advanced theories to analyze a selected film.
