About Course
This course offers an in-depth exploration of film history, from early cinema to contemporary film theory. Spanning significant eras and movements, students will study the evolution of cinema, influential directors, groundbreaking film movements, and the development of animation and documentary film. Additionally, the course introduces students to various theoretical frameworks—including genre, auteur, feminist, queer, psychoanalytic, Marxist, and postcolonial theories—to enhance their understanding of film as both an art form and cultural artifact. Each module includes hands-on assignments, encouraging students to analyze and present their insights on films from various historical and theoretical perspectives. The course culminates in a final project, where students research and present on a specific era, movement, or theory in film history.
