About Course
This course offers an in-depth study of essential directing skills, guiding students through the responsibilities, techniques, and creative decisions involved in the director’s role. Topics cover fundamental aspects of directing, from developing a unique vision and style to effectively collaborating with a crew and working closely with actors. Students will learn practical skills such as scene blocking, visual storytelling, and genre-specific directing methods. Additionally, the course explores advanced directing concepts, including directing action and dialogue scenes, working with storyboards, handling creative conflicts, and managing post-production. Special units examine directing documentaries, television, and low-budget films. Through various hands-on assignments—creating short films, directing scenes, analysing styles, and producing storyboards—students will build a portfolio that reflects their growth and adaptability in directing. Emphasis is also placed on keeping pace with industry trends, understanding international directing styles, and navigating ethical considerations, preparing students for diverse challenges in the field.
